Inspirational Woman

 For Peggy

This mosaic has winged its way to a great friend of mine in the states, Peggy. She is inspirational....an elder to be encountered...wise, challenging, witty and of course uniquely herself.Tiny in statue, huge in presence. I love have having folk 'of a certain age' in my life. My experience is that as a western culture we underestimate and are low on respect for the elder people in our society. When I think about all the experiences they have had which comes with living a long life its pretty mind blowing.I think I'm aspiring to live a long and healthier life....I've probably not thought about it too much but since that is a possibility with the gift of Marts kidney its now on the menu.
Ive not blogged for a week or so because the time is flying , the reality is in our faces. There seems at the same time loads to do and  nothing to do. Whats been interesting over the past few days is that old friendships seem to be popping up.My new life resolution is to keep in touch more, I think the greatest learning from this transploration process is the value I place on relationships and how important they are to me.Ive always had a feel of that but its like now I really know it. It is great to reconnect with folk and even though thirty or so years have past those fundamental friendship connections are still there
So symptoms, the most frustrating is the fatigue i experience, followed by breathlessness and in particularly night sweats...I think there a combination or kidney and menopause sweats.Mart says its like being around a storage radiator[ romantic eh?]Emotionally I'm getting twitchy, today is a blood test to see if my diet needs alteration to cut down on potassium this week, pre op. It seems what kidney surgeons and anaesthetists tolerate in potassium levels is different. On Thursday we meet with the independent assessor to finally check that theres nothing dodgy going on with Martyn's gift of donating his kidney to me...such as hes being coerced or receiving payment for it. Especially funny as yesterday he was clearing out the gutters on our conservatory and the bucket fell off the top of the ladder  and hit him on the bridge of his nose...so he's sporting a cracking bruise on the bridge of his nose and is developing a black eye. How good will that look?
I think I've deliberately continued to work up to the wire to keep my mind occupied and away from too much ruminating and anxiety.Folk have been fantastically responsible and mind full in keeping away if they've got colds, virus's and flue...thank you to those people. Mart and I are too near the wire to develop temperatures now , so fingers crossed.

I love the bogwood root on this mosaic , it adds depth and nature.
The pictures do not do justice to the colours and fossils in this piece of work.

  1. I hope Peter is getting his own back by showing everyone photos of his dad's injuries. :-)

  5. i love this artwork, feels like the figure has a timeless serenity but then also bursting with exuberance - the colours, the textures and the liveness of the organic material mixed in with the smoothness of the stones- just beautiful
